The Honeywell Ademco MAGDRHLDR is an electromagnetic door holder that keeps a fire or smoke door propped open during normal building use and releases it automatically the moment power is removed, as it is when a fire alarm system commands all doors closed. The unit is built in two parts, a wall- or floor-mounted electromagnet and a matching door-mounted counter-plate, with a spring-loaded release pin in the electromagnet that pushes the door away to overcome residual magnetism on release; a front push-button lets staff test or manually release the door without waiting for an alarm.
