The Amerex A12790 is a ¾" brass mechanical gas shut-off valve for kitchen cooking appliances protected by an Amerex fire suppression system. NFPA 96 requires an automatic gas shutoff on every gas-fired appliance under hood suppression protection, and this "pull-to-close" valve provides it: held open by a latch, it snaps shut the instant the system is discharged.

- "Normally closed, held open" design - a spring closes the valve as soon as the latch releases
- Latch is tripped by a cable pulled from the piston in the system's MRM or PRM on discharge
- Smallest of a family of companion mechanical gas valves (¾", 1", 1¼", 1½", 2") covering common kitchen gas-line sizes
