The Amerex A545 is a 50 lb. pail of sodium chloride-based Class D extinguishing powder, used to recharge Amerex Model B570 and 680 Class D fire extinguishers or applied directly by scoop or shovel onto a combustible-metal fire. Heat from the fire cakes the powder into a crust that excludes air and draws heat away from the burning metal.
