The Ansul 6979 is a nitrogen expellant cartridge assembly with cap for Ansul's 5 lb cartridge-operated Model LT-5-R fire extinguisher, the low-temperature-rated version of the Red Line Model 5. Like other Ansul low-temperature models, it uses nitrogen instead of CO2 as the expellant gas because nitrogen holds its discharge pressure at temperatures where CO2 cartridges lose effectiveness, and it is the direct nitrogen counterpart to the standard CO2 cartridge assembly used on the non-LT Model 5 (part 4523).
