The Apollo 55000-327USA is a Series 65A photoelectric smoke detector that uses light-scattering technology to sense smoke entering its chamber, sharing the same housing as Apollo's ionization Series 65A variant but built around an infrared emitter/sensor pair arranged radially on a horizontal optical bench. It's well suited to slow-burning, smoldering fires and locations like bedrooms and escape routes, and it plugs into a conventional Apollo Series 65 detector base on a two-wire zone circuit. This model has since been marked obsolete by the manufacturer.
