The Fire King BDA is an aluminum burst (rupture) disc built to the Ansul-style specification used in cartridge-operated dry and wet chemical fire extinguishing systems. Installed in the discharge line, it's designed to rupture at a set pressure - typically in the 20-45 PSI range for this style of disc - so it blocks the line under normal conditions but vents automatically if pressure inside the system rises from extreme temperature swings, protecting the piping from damage before the system is ever actually discharged. It's a wear item that gets replaced any time the system is serviced or recharged.
