The Gamewell-FCI FML-E3 is a plug-in multi-mode fiber loop module that carries one ARCNET communication channel between an E3 Series fire alarm control panel and an RPT-E3-UTP network repeater (or an INI-VG voice gateway) over fiber-optic cable instead of copper. Using ST-style connectors on 62.5/125 micrometer multi-mode fiber keeps the link's maximum attenuation to 8 dB, letting E3 Series nodes be networked over distances or in electrically noisy environments where copper runs would be impractical.
