The Gentex SR220 is a 220 VAC multi-criteria photoelectric smoke alarm built for evacuation signaling in dwelling units such as apartments, hotels, and hospitals, with a programmable relay output for remote annunciation. Its light-scattering photoelectric sensor is engineered to virtually eliminate nuisance alarms while still responding quickly to real smoke conditions, and a 9V alkaline battery keeps the alarm and its relay working through a building power loss. The relay itself continues to operate on battery back-up, so a connected panel or remote device still receives a signal even without AC present.
