The Hochiki NS4-224 is a 4-inch conventional detector base sized for Hochiki's SOE and SOC photoelectric detectors and SLR/SLV heat and smoke detectors, giving installers a standard mounting point across that whole detector family. Because the NS4 and larger NS6 bases share the same electrical interface, a site can mix 4-inch and 6-inch bases as box sizes require without changing detector models.
