The Kidde KC2-OS is a two-wire photoelectric smoke detector built for the EC2 series detector base line, drawing power and reporting alarm/trouble status over the same pair of wires used for the initiating device circuit. It carries an S10A compatibility identification code, which control panels use to confirm they're reading a supported device type before accepting it onto the circuit. Being a two-wire design keeps field wiring simple on circuits where a separate power pair isn't run to each detector.
