The Kidde KI-IB4 is a detector mounting base with a built-in short-circuit isolator, sized to install directly into a 4-inch square electrical box. The isolator module on the base watches the signaling line loop and opens the circuit around a wiring fault so the rest of the loop's detectors and modules keep communicating instead of the whole zone dropping offline. It ships with the -TS4 trim skirt already included, which covers the wider 4-inch box opening so the base sits flush against the ceiling or wall.
