The Kidde KI-RB is a detector mounting base with an integrated Form C (single-pole, double-throw) relay that switches when the installed detector head goes into alarm. The relay's dry contacts can be wired to drive an external device such as a remote annunciator lamp, a damper actuator, or an HVAC shutdown circuit, independent of the panel's own notification circuits. The detector head mounts to the base the same way as Kidde's other bases, so it can be swapped without rewiring the relay connections.
