The Potter PTS-C is a plug-type supervisory switch used to monitor sprinkler system control valves, so the fire alarm panel sees a supervisory signal if someone closes a valve that's supposed to stay open. Turning the valve wheel pulls a plug out of a receptacle mounted at the valve; once pulled, the plug can't be reinserted until the receptacle cover is removed with the special hex key provided, which discourages someone from quietly restoring the valve to hide that it was tampered with. The switch uses a sealed reed contact, which avoids the corrosion issues that plague older mechanical tamper switches over time.
Key Features
- Plug-type design: pulling the valve plug trips the supervisory signal
- Tamper-evident receptacle cover requiring a special hex key to reset
- Sealed reed switch construction resists contact corrosion
- Integral housing-cover tamper switch, separate from the valve-monitoring contact
