The Protectowire PHSC-172-EPC is a fixed-temperature linear heat detector cable rated to alarm at 172°F (78°C), providing continuous heat detection coverage along its entire run rather than at a single spot. Two twisted steel conductors are individually coated in a heat-sensitive polymer that yields once the cable reaches its rated temperature anywhere along its length, letting the conductors touch and close a normally-open alarm contact without needing a minimum heated length or field calibration.
