The Simplex 4098-9683 is a 2-wire detector mounting base with a built-in dual Form C auxiliary alarm relay, used to mount Simplex TrueAlarm photoelectric or heat detector heads on a conventional 2-wire initiating device circuit (IDC). Because the relay's operation depends on the base being the only device on its IDC, it's installed as a stand-alone detector circuit rather than daisy-chained with other bases.
